Moving the Apostrophe to Help Mothers Around the World

MDM

Mothers’ Day Movement (MDM) was founded by a small group of women who believed in making a difference for women around the globe.

They were inspired by Half the Sky, a book by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, which chronicles the oppression of women and girls in the developing world. We know that, with support, women become empowered and their lives, the lives of their children and of their communities are forever changed.  Read about their start here >

19 billionWhat is a movement? A movement is a wave.
It picks up momentum and grows to effect substantial change.
Let’s move the funds to mothers who need it around the globe.

Let’s start a Mothers’ Day Movement

WHAT WE’VE DONE

Since 2011, MDM donors have raised more than $300,000 to help women and children. Our beneficiaries have dramatically improved the lives of women and their families in the fields of women’s health, education, infant and maternal mortality and clean water. But our work is not done yet…

HOW IT WORKS

Every year, a different campaign is presented. Mothers’ Day Movement researches small to mid-sized charities in education, health care and other areas helping women and their families throughout the developing world about their reach and success in effecting positive change for women around the world.

We invite you to make a donation in honor of your mother, sister,
colleague or friend to the 2015 beneficiary, Free the Slaves.

FTS is working to combat the damage caused by the $150 billion slave trade. The money raised this Mother’s Day will go to provide critical services to slavery survivors in India including rehabilitation, literacy and vocational skills. We hope to shift the priorities of giving for Mother’s Day. Just a portion of your Mother’s Day budget will make an enormous impact for women across the globe.

Make a donation in honor of your Mother, your friend, your sister
or any special woman in your life.
Help make the world a better place.

This Mother’s Day, Half the Sky Movement is taking Nicholas Kristof’s advice and moving the apostrophe to make it Mothers’ Day – honoring not just individual mothers, but moms around the world. There are LOTS of ways you can join us in the celebration. [/symple_column]

4GGL thanks Half the Sky Movement for this story.

The Half the Sky Movement is cutting across platforms to ignite the change needed to put an end to the oppression of women and girls worldwide, the defining issue of our time. Inspired by journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn’s book of the same name, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide brings together video, websites, games, blogs and other educational tools to  raise awareness of women’s issues, and  provide concrete steps to fight these problems and empower women.

Change is possible, and you can be part of the solution.
