Fridge of Kindness
33% of food produced worldwide is either lost of wasted.
Minu Pauline owns Pappadavada, an Indian restaurant in Kochi, India. She noticed homeless people looking for food in the garbage. She saw an opportunity and has installed a refrigerator on the sidewalk, stocking it with over 200 meals a day.
The homeless and hungry can grab free food from the fridge whenever they need. Pauline has nicknamed the fridge: “Namna Maran” which means Tree of Goodness, and encourages her customers to contribute and leave food for others.
