Self Dare #4: Listen

Self Dare #4: Listen

It’s week four of summer 2016… are you up for a new dare?  If you are looking to learn more about who you really are this summer, we encourage you to try this exercise: WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF.
Here’s how to do  it:
1. Ground yourself…  go for a walk or dance and listen to some inspirational music
2. Sit still and breathe… give yourself time to Listen to your inner wisdom
3. Write a Letter to Your Younger Self
4. Mail it to your home address before the end of the week
5. When you get it in the mail, picture yourself as a younger “you” reading your own advice
6. As you go about the rest of the summer, remember this inner wisdom your Self shared with you
7. REFLECT on how you are looking at things differently now
8. Share this realization with a friend, a family member, or –
9. Tell us about your discovery in the comments below, or –
10. Share a photo of you with your letter on our Facebook page!

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A “LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF”
WRITTEN BY THE UNMISTAKABLE RUSSELL BRAND
russell
You are going to get rich and famous and travel the world, meet loads of unbelievable girls.
There will be moments when
you enjoy it. But I know for a fact what you already suspect:

“None of this stuff is the answer.”

There’s a thing that you’re good at:
making people laugh and connecting with them.
That’s cool. It’s really cool. Look after that, it’s going to look after you.

But know TOO that not everyone’s going to like you.
That doesn’t matter. The important thing is that YOU like you.

I want to tell you you’re alright.
You have everything you need already.

Try to listen to that quiet voice
because that’s the thing you’re looking for.
Some people call it love, others call it connectivity and others call it God.

It’s there, it’s always been there, and it will always be there.
And if you look after it, it will look after you.”

– Russell Brand
Now, what about YOU?
What did all the experience you have NOW teach you….
What advice did YOU share with your younger SELF?

“I don’t know whether it has to take as long as it took me to learn that the voice you use to talk to yourself should sound exactly the same as the voice you use to talk to your best friends. I don’t know if it’s possible, when you’re sprinting away from the difficult parts of teenage girlhood as fast as you can, to look back over your shoulder and grab the hand of someone just arriving at the start line.” written by Eleanor Gall
